He shared his Steam account with you, but it doesn’t appear in your library. He also has a volunteer account, which might be why he can join games. You might need to verify the account details or contact him directly for access.

For using Family Sharing to exchange games you both own, follow these steps:
1. Both of you must log in on your respective devices.
2. Your friend must access the Family Sharing area on his device, approve both the computer and his account.
3. Do the same process with your account on his device so he can play your games.
4. Keep in mind that if he’s playing a game while you’re active, you won’t be able to start one of his games, and launching his game will trigger a warning followed by a ban.

Both profiles must be approved before sharing, and each computer needs approval from the other's account. Occasionally the library vanishes, and restarting Steam can resolve the issue. A drop-down menu in the library lets you confirm authorization appears even when he isn't playing.

Sure, follow the advice from @EmoPolarbear and add them to your friends list as well. It resolved the issue.

Additionally, certain titles aren't available for sharing, which could explain why Evolve isn't accessible.
