Steam Client causes excessive CPU consumption. Assistance required.
Hello, I'm facing an issue. Every time I play a game via Steam, the "Steam client bootstraper" consumes about 30% of my CPU. Right now I'm playing CSGO intensely, which pushes my CPU to 90-100% and causes the game to drop in FPS. The graphics card is fine, but performance is terrible. I have an i3 6100 and temperatures are normal. I've tried Steam guides, but nothing worked. Before I even thought about uninstalling my OS, I was hoping you could offer some advice. Thanks a lot!
Same issue occurred with me recently. Every program I started caused my CPU to run at maximum capacity (100% when using Google Chrome), forcing me to restart the machine repeatedly. Eventually, after a few days, it resolved on its own. I performed virus scans afterward to rule out any malware causing the problem.
Steam often requires significant CPU resources during game installation or downloads.
It began gradually, before things got worse. I downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a scan for viruses. Windows Defender didn’t detect anything, and I’m not using any antivirus on Windows 10. I don’t have issues with other programs—except Steam, which I haven’t tested yet.
