Steam Availability Resolved: Tomb Raider Update
I obtained Tomb Raider through Steam without any cost. Therefore, do I still require a download? My computer lacks sufficient storage space.
Simply because something is available without cost doesn't imply you shouldn’t download and install it as you would any other game. Therefore, if you wish to play it, you’ll need to allocate sufficient storage space on your hard drive. The confirmation message received after adding it to your account should have made this clear, explicitly stating “INSTALL YOUR NEW CONTENT” in large lettering. Despite this, it only demands approximately 9.2 gigabytes – a remarkably small amount considering current game sizes. It’s advisable to reserve 15% additional space on your drive for future use, and this should represent actual usable storage, not the total advertised capacity. Microsoft recommends this precaution, as exceeding 85% of your drive’s capacity could lead to operating system or storage device malfunctions.
Simply because something is offered without cost doesn’t signify that you shouldn't download and install it as you would any other game. Therefore, if you intend to play it, you’ll need to allocate sufficient storage area on your hard drive.
This should have been obvious from the notification you received after adding it to your account, which prominently stated INSTALL YOUR NEW CONTENT in large capital letters.
However, the download size is only approximately 9.3 gigabytes – a remarkably small amount considering current game sizes. Remember to leave an additional 15% of your drive space unutilized, and this should be genuine free space, not the total amount shown on your device. Microsoft recommends this precaution, as exceeding 85% capacity can result in operating system and drive performance issues.
