Hi, think about getting the slim version of this cooler? I plan to purchase a Gigabyte gaming 5 x370, an R5 1600 (clocked up to 3.6 or 3.7), and a HyperX Predator 3000mhz with 2x4 RAM. My case is an NZXT S340.

Well, I suppose I’m okay with sticking with the stock cooler. Right now I’m using an Intel one, but it’s been getting really loud. I changed the BIOS and set it to silence mode, but the difference wasn’t big enough. It got even noisier in the past two months. Also, when idling, I’m just letting the fan spin like it is now. Imagine playing Fortnite with 90% CPU usage—initially I had no issues for a couple weeks, but now I’m experiencing chronic pain in my right ear because my PC is on my right side. Because of this, I don’t want to use the stock cooler anymore, whether it’s from AMD or Intel. Plus, I’d rather overheat the CPU so the cooler will definitely be louder.

If you're only going to 3.7 GHz, why not stick to stock cooling? Aftermarket cooling will be a waste of money unless it's a first generation X chip. Stock cooler can do 3.7 GHz easily, don't even need to touch voltages.

I don't really have a solid reason for doing that, I just want to make a change.

Well, I suppose I’m joking if I say there’s no point sticking with the stock cooler. Right now I’m using an Intel stock cooler, but it’s been getting really loud. I changed the BIOS to silence mode, and there was a difference, but it wasn’t enough. It got even louder over the past two months. Also, when idling, I’m just letting the fan spin like it is now. Picture playing Fortnite with 90% CPU usage—initially I had no issues for a couple weeks, but now I’m experiencing chronic pain in my right ear because my PC is on my right side. Because of this, I don’t want to use the stock cooler anymore, whether it’s from AMD or Intel. Plus, I’d rather overheat the cooler so it’ll be louder, definitely. I don’t even want to mention seeing a doctor next week just because of this ear pain… and I’m not being sarcastic at all.

Well, I suppose I’m not convinced there’s no point in sticking with the stock cooler. Right now I’m using an Intel stock cooler, but it’s been getting really loud. I changed the BIOS and set it to silence mode, but the difference wasn’t big enough. It started getting noisy over the past two months. Also, when idling, I’m just letting the fan spin at Chrome speed. Imagine playing Fortnite with 90% CPU usage—initially it was fine for a couple weeks, but now I’m experiencing chronic pain in my right ear because my PC is on my right side. Because of this, I don’t want to use the stock cooler anymore, whether it’s from AMD or Intel. Plus, I’d rather overheat than risk my health by ignoring it. I don’t even want to mention seeing a doctor next week just because of this ear pain… and that’s not sarcastic at all.
