Hello, The initial PSU (600W quiet! Pure Power 11 - 80+ Gold) I experienced an oscillating clicking noise around 6-10 months after purchase. After returning a new unit, the issue resurfaced. Possible causes: Dust accumulation? My room is dusty, but I clean the setup twice yearly. The intake includes a dust filter, yet this problem hasn’t occurred with other PCs. Temperature fluctuations? Summer heat and winter cold might play a role—around 6-10 months seems reasonable. Is the PSU mounted upside down? It draws power from below, possibly indicating a design flaw. I feel compelled to disassemble it, but I’m hesitant since I can still return it. What could be behind this problem?
PSU functions well across various temperature ranges as long as condensation or overheating doesn't occur. If your case includes ventilation, placing it 'upside down' is ideal. You mention dust in your room but clean your PC twice yearly—consider monthly filter maintenance. If unsure, avoid disassembling the PSU; it may still pose a serious risk even when unplugged.
