Recently, I’ve experienced intermittent freezing in games (typically lasting 0.5 to 2 seconds) when engaging with other players – both as an attacker or a target. While not constant, the occurrence is frequent enough to significantly disrupt gameplay. This initially manifested within Fortnite, leading me to suspect either a game malfunction or a problem with the Unreal Engine. However, I subsequently encountered this same freezing behavior in titles such as Dead by Daylight and Rust.
I’ve recorded an instance of this occurring for your review.
This particular freeze was notably prolonged.
My initial assumption that this was isolated to Fortnite and related to the engine was incorrect, as Rust, developed using Unity, presented a similar problem. Consequently, I believe the issue lies with my hardware configuration:
GPU: GTX 1070 Founders Edition
CPU: i7-6700k
RAM: 16GB
MOBO: GA-170X-UD3
SSD: PNY 240GB
HDD: WD 1TB + 3TB
I’ve investigated the following aspects without success:
Not related to specific game or engine settings.
Not a performance bottleneck (framerate is stable).
Drivers are current versions.
The computer has been thoroughly cleaned.
Temperatures remain within acceptable ranges.
I am seeking assistance in determining if others have encountered this problem and found a resolution, or if there’s a potential cause for these freezes.
Could that ping actually impact anything? I’m not certain about the fluctuations in graphics card and processor usage, so I’ll attempt to keep Task Manager visible for observation during subsequent tests.
Hi, apologies for the delay. I’ve at last managed to run a task manager alongside my game and discovered this:
It appears that the hard drive could be the problem?
C: is my solid-state drive. I recently relocated Rust from my D: (traditional hard disk) to C:.
