My computer is producing 11 beeps when it starts, but after that it boots normally and everything functions correctly. I’m a bit worried about those beeps and want to know what to do. Thanks!
Which motherboard are you using? Since there’s no one-size-fits-all guide for POST beeps, we need to know the manufacturer before explaining their meaning.
System specifics: AMD Ryzen 5950x processor, Gigabyte Aorus B550 Pro V2 SSD, WD Black SN850 500GB drive, Arctic Freezer 360 cooling unit, Phanteks P400a graphics card, Zotac 3060 OC RAM, and 64GB of NVMe storage.
Gigabyte/Aorus runs AMI BIOS/UEFI, likely. I think the 11 beeps point to a cache issue or malfunction. This doesn’t necessarily mean your CPU is faulty—it could be a board problem. Try another CPU; if it boots after a second try, the issue probably lies with your hardware. You might need to consider an RMA, though it could take some time since you’re buying from Gigabyte.
I mentioned my computer powers on and works properly after 11 beeps, acting just like a regular system. You told me I previously used a different CPU with a Ryzen 1600x, which also produced the same 11 beeps. I made sure to update the BIOS. Interestingly, the beeps only occur during shutdown and not when I restart.
Update - during the night I fail to turn off the AC in my room where my computer is. The next day, when I arrived and turned it on, the 11 beeps issue disappeared. Uncertain about the reason, possibly humidity, but it has happened before. It's been a week now and I no longer hear any beeps. Hope this assists anyone experiencing a similar problem.
