It’s possible. You can try converting the drive to exFAT, which supports larger file sizes and should work around the 4GB limit.

exFAT was created to manage files larger than 4GB, which means it should work well.

No, it needs to be FAT32. You can find methods to reduce the image size, check out WinReducer8.1 for assistance.

It doesn't appear to recognize the system as a bootable device. The issue varies by motherboard; with UEFI support only FAT32 works, while a 16-bit BIOS should function normally.

You can set up Windows 8.1 using an exFAT formatted USB stick. Information: installed Windows 8 and 8.1 from my exFAT USB drive earlier.
