I have recently installed Windows 10 on a dell laptop. I partitioned the drive and kept my windows 8.1 build. After installation though I cannot seem to figure out how to boot back into windows 8.1. Any ideas?

I also use Grub, but Burg works fine too. [Check the links in the replies for further details.]

The results you see are limited to basic searches for "startup" and "recovery."

Windows 8 isn't visible when I attempt to switch to another operating system; it only shows Windows 10. I created a partition on the HDD during installation of 10, yet retained my 8 files.

No, you can't remove your new 10-partition setup and try booting just with the 8-partition.

Avoid this step as it could prevent starting either operating system.
