I bought a new HP 10th gen PC. The SSD drive suddenly stopped working. My HP tech came to fix it and replaced the motherboard and CPU. They said my 2TB SSD was broken. When I tried to put in a different SSD, the computer started up but didn't do anything except show the HP logo. It ran Windows 11 for a bit, then died before showing any letters or drive names. Even plugging in a thumb drive didn't work. I don't know how to get past that point because it's not easy for me. What should I do? Also, can I take my old SSD out and clean the inside if there are dirt marks on it? I'll look here sometimes too and thank you, Paul!

Hi there! Is the guy who fixed you actually put the operating system on the new hard drive? If no, then you don't have it yet on your computer.

I took out the email address you posted. Never share private info again. Regarding that strange question about the drive, it sounds weird because there was no hard drive left inside. This means I didn't test if the laptop started up right after removing the SSD. Plus, asking how to get my old files off that card? If they had fingerprints or tissue on them, can we clean it back down? That shouldn't matter at all... unless those marks prove something happened. Tissue paper is probably not proof anyway. You should talk to an HP technician so they can give you the removed SSD back and help reinstall the computer software. Your personal stuff was saved in a backup before I took the drive out, so that's where it went. More details would be nice here. No private info or links allowed.

I got a tiny 256 GB ssd card from HP, and that's why I could see what it said to test. Without it, nothing worked, just the HP logo kept coming. Sorry for sending email; I'm not sure how this works but it won't happen again. Thank you.

Thank you ... I got a 256 GB ssd card from HP and that's how I could see what it said to test. Without it, nothing happened - just the HP logo kept coming up. My apologies for sending email ... I'm not sure how this works but it won't happen again. When the technician came by did he install the OS onto the new SSD? If not then that's what's missing on your PC: We didn't have the ssd card at the time. It was mailed by HP a couple of days later. The tech only installed the PC board and CPU that day. I just inserted the card myself. Without the card, nothing happened. After putting it in, it started to check and then I could control the test list from my keyboard. There was a green light on the board. When the old ssd card was inside, it also showed a red light. Thanks
