i just assembled my first build with a b450m steel legend matx, a ryzen 5 2600x, 32gb ddr4 at 33600 mhz, gigabyte 5700xt oc deepcool with fractal pop mini air white rgb samsung g5 1440p, and a 165hz monitor. on the xbox series s it’s running thermal grizzly applied to both cpu and gpu. temperatures are consistently high, around 80°c, during gameplay—both dragon age and older titles as well as newer ones. i’m trying to figure out why.
The fan operates at maximum speed while the pump runs at a higher rate. The airflow direction is push-pull, with the front drawing in air and the motor housing expelling it. The rear fan handles exhaust.
You're checking if 80°C is okay for your CPU and GPU. You're using the gigabyte 5700xt OC, which is a high-performance card, and you're aware it can handle temperatures up to around 90-100°C, with a maximum of 110°C.
MSI afterburner is installed, though I'm mainly running older games and a few non-AAA ones. I'm just going through all the games I used to play on my Xbox.
Are you placing your PSU to pull air from beneath the case or through the vented section beneath your GPU? I think most people have it drawing air from under, but some swap it and force air in. That wouldn’t help your GPU at all. If you mount the AIO radiator in front, you might lower the CPU temperature by a few degrees. Also, does the AIO pump link to a chassis fan header or the pump itself? If it connects to the pump header, it should run full time unless adjusted in BIOS.
the only method to bring air to the PSU is by drawing it from under the case, which is bottom-mounted. for a 750w unit, i spent many hours studying the requirements. i enjoy my setup and switch between RGB based on whether the leaf packsers or the Irish are playing. when neither is happening, the build turns completely green.
