Never tried it before and trying it now because I don’t usually enjoy that game. I got the NA Enhanced version of the first Witcher from Origin about a month ago, and also picked up TW2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition—interesting naming choices. I’m not planning to change the combat system or anything extreme right now; my main goal is to get started smoothly. I’m searching for textures, adult mods, and possibly performance tweak mods. I’m a bit worried about whether getting it through Origin might cause issues, but I’ll find out soon.

I'm confident everyone here will express their concerns (or at least consider) purchasing it on Origin. If others are interested, check GOG—DRM-free is a great option. Although it isn't an exceptionally visually appealing title (the first one), I suggest trying it out before adding mods and avoiding the isometric camera effect that can distract from the graphics. The Witcher series is aimed at a mature audience, so it's not necessary to include adult content. Witcher 2 looks impressive. What system requirements do you have? My GTX 660 can handle the game well, as can The Witcher and TW3.

The specs didn’t impress me. GT130m and an outdated mobile quadcore Q9000. It was clearly cheaper at the time, and I assumed if Origin caused trouble I’d leave. Now here I am—still...Confusedhrugs: shortsightedness returns, but I’m unsure it’ll matter soon. I don’t meet the minimum for TW2, yet I’ve been there before. They’re asking for a 2.2Ghz Core2Duo, but I got a 2GHz Core2Quad. I saw some German forums a while back with texture mods that looked decent, though I can’t find them anymore. Probably because few people used the Nexus for The Witcher based on how active they were.

Wow! Those numbers are just a heads-up, my brother with his GT 520 and Q6600 playing Witcher 3 got only about 9 FPS in the first scene. (I multiplied by three from the bare minimum.) I wouldn’t suggest even trying to boost the game’s quality or graphics unless you’re 100% sure it won’t slow down completely. For Witcher 3, run the game using the lowest possible settings, unless they keep dropping the frame rate. If not, lowering the resolution could help. (or switch to a different game with lower settings.) My brother still experiences lag on the GT 520 when things get intense. You might want to give it a shot for a bit more visual quality, though textures aren’t a big issue. (This forces using full-resolution images.) Since you already own Witcher 2, I’d suggest giving it a try—maybe you won’t be able to play at all. The GT 520 is a big jump compared to the GT 130m. (This game hasn’t been tested on the GT 520.) How’s it going? I’m mainly a modder who’s played Skyrim and similar titles, using a Q6600+ 8400 GS, a 520, a GTX 660, and SLI+i7. Ok... to be honest, my FPS at full 1080p would be way too high for a GT 520. I’ve had the GTX 660 struggle with everything at that resolution, even though I love it.

I'm not attempting to alter TW3. I'm not concerned about getting TW1 or TW2 functional, that's fine. I just wish someone experienced could help me with the first Witcher mod. I don't want to dive into a lot of changes like I did with Skyrim and try many mods at once. It's okay if my setup isn't perfect—my PC runs TW2 without issues. People say the original looks good, but it can definitely improve. -Dontforceminreqs

I just met Triss and noticed her noticeable seam on the neck. I’m diving into The Witcher: Hi-Res Character Models. It’s early when Geralt gets his first playful jab at the cat for mature moments in the game, and I was unsure if I should laugh or cry. Oh right, Risque... I can sense humanity's moral threads being strengthened here. Shocking, what is this? It feels mature—there’s a card flying across the screen while it’s off-camera, blurry and chaotic. Anyway... The Witcher/The Witcher: Enhanced Edition patch for retail and digital downloads is now being applied. I’m trying to install patch 1.5, but it seems Origin is blocking it because of DRM. I’m not sure yet. Still hoping someone has experimented with texture mods and can suggest a better option.
