Works with BIOS upgrade only. The most affordable second or first generation processor available is necessary to modify a B450 motherboard. For the Athlon model you have, it’s a third generation chip and needs the identical BIOS version used for all other third generation processors.
I checked the AMD Bootkit setting, but I’m trying to resolve the problem by getting Gigabyte to handle it first. They should reply within 3 to 7 business days. Woopee! I was wondering how much it would cost to purchase an Athlon 200GE compared to the 3000G. I paid $56 for the 3000G and the most affordable 200GE I found is $75. I searched eBay for used CPUs and didn’t see a big difference in price. I’m curious whether buying a 200GE could help me recoup my money by renting it out to people needing BIOS updates. That idea doesn’t sound very serious, though.
Step into the micro center and grab that 3000G for $44.99. Back then, the 200 model was sold at a much lower price online. It feels expensive now—about $75? The processor seems weak. I could lend you mine, but it’s cracked and nearly had 1.6v pushed through it. Haha!
