Hello Everyone It would be helpful to know your perspectives on this. I'm facing some challenges despite trying various fixes like DNS settings, Teamview, BIOS/PC wake on LAN tweaks, router port forwarding, and assigning a reserved IP. It seems it only functions when I'm connected at home. Any suggestions for improvement?
There should be a device running continuously to handle such requests. A router is ideal, though I've noticed WOL (wake On LAN) can be unreliable on routers. A strong router should not forward internet traffic to your local network for security. A top-quality router can send a signal to the router from the internet, which then transmits the WOL packet over the local network. This feature is becoming less common in modern routers. Personally, I use a Home Assistant server that stays active for home automation and manages WOL when not connected locally. There are various options available depending on your specific needs.
I can provide more details about your home assistant configuration and its wake-up process. It seems you’re experiencing difficulties with the PC waking up, especially when connecting to the internet through an external network. Your Orbi RBR50 appears capable of handling this task, but there may be interference issues—possibly from your ISP’s equipment or a physical obstruction. Once the PC is powered on, remote access tools like TeamViewer work smoothly, indicating the main challenge lies during the initial power-up phase.
It was turned off overnight, yet it failed to power on when the smart plug was engaged.
