Start with two Windows 10 systems running simultaneously.
Hi, my Acer Nitro AN-515-51 laptop came with only a 1TB mechanical drive. I recently added a M.2 WD Green SSD. Initially, I removed the old HDD and installed a fresh Windows 10 using the Media Creation Tool. The system started up fine, but I didn’t download drivers for other devices. After that, I placed the HDD in the standard SATA port and booted the machine. I noticed I had a Windows 10 installation on the HDD, so I expected to see a boot option for it, but nothing appeared. Eventually, it automatically switched to the SSD copy. I could still see both drives listed in My PC, and everything worked. After rebooting, I entered BIOS to verify the boot entries and confirmed both drives were present under Boot. However, during startup, the older HDD version booted first. Since then, I’ve tried several times but couldn’t access the Windows 10 version on the SSD. Let me know if you need help further.
Adjust the boot sequence directly within the BIOS settings. Avoid running two versions of Windows 10 on one machine.
It seems there isn't a setup available on my laptop. After restarting, it boots directly into Windows. During Windows 10 recovery, it leads to the BIOS menu. Pressing F8, F2, or F12 doesn't trigger any changes. Let me know if you need further help.
Is there a quick startup option active? That can sometimes cause it to skip selection steps. Also, don't keep holding it down—just press it once. From a discussion I read, it should use F12 for boot and F2 for BIOS.
