Consider playing the KH series in this sequence for better comprehension of the narrative. Start with Kingdom Hearts, then move to Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, followed by Kingdom Hearts II, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, and finish with Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. Play Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance last.
I believe @nerdslayer1's comment perfectly captures the issue. A quick reminder—Chain of Memories was quite frustrating to play.
I’d bypass Chain of Memories and check a YouTube video instead, since you won’t recall anything while dealing with the messy GBA card combat system. Try watching the remakes for better controls and a few extra scenes, then revisit hidden cutscenes on YouTube for the toughest levels and secret bosses if you’re not doing it yourself. Skip the 358/2 days unless you enjoy slow, repetitive playthroughs.
I’ve only experienced 1 and 2 during my childhood and have beaten both. I’m planning to go through them all again. Should I really start with Birth by Sleep before Kingdom Hearts 1? The BBS provides a lot of information and sets up many details. Also, Re: Coded doesn’t set up for BBS.
Start the first game and then halt. The narrative picks up after that, really picking up speed.
