Hey everyone, I'm reaching out for some guidance. I'm trying to set up my first PC build and need your help. I'm planning to use an X570 motherboard, but I'm a bit confused about compatibility. Specifically, I need something that supports a Ryzen 5 3600 processor. I'm looking for a board with four fan headers—three for case fans and one for the CPU. Also, could you suggest a power supply unit that matches these requirements? Ideally over 400 watts. Thanks a lot!

The x570 board offers more features than necessary, yet it should work with Ryzen 4000 series CPUs. For the 3600 model, consider the x470 or a solid b450.

Gigabyte x570 Pro WiFi offers sufficient fan headers. I own this unit and can verify it performs well, keeping the VRM cool and stable with Ryzen 2700x or the newer 3900x models inside. Generally, the x570 series provides better forward compatibility for Ryzen 4000-series processors. Compared to x470 and b450, x570 models usually deliver superior power delivery for CPUs. While b550 boards also show good power output, I’d hold off on final judgments until seeing real-world feedback. However, those in the b series tend to have fewer fan headers. Don’t obsess over the number of headers; most support 1-1.5A and can handle multiple fans via a splitter. Splitters work fine, but organizing fans—grouping front intake and AIO units separately—can improve efficiency. For a Ryzen 3600, you might manage with a 550W power supply and still have headroom for future upgrades. For a RX5700XT or 2070 Super, aim for at least 650W and keep some extra capacity. Choose an 80+ Gold power supply from trusted brands like Seasonic, EVGA, or Corsair—it tends to be more efficient, quieter, and built with higher-quality parts than cheaper options. A reliable power supply should last several builds, so don’t cut corners too much.

X570 Mobo models and the upcoming B550 are compatible with Ryzen 3000 CPUs. @ISHAJDM These options aren't too extravagant; spending on X470 or B450 Mobo would be a waste because they don't support the Ryzen 4000 series. It's better to go with an X570, which is what they're promoting. This will allow him to upgrade later if needed. The X570 makes good sense as an investment.

Sure, I can elaborate on that. Let me know if you'd like a clearer explanation.

Thanks for the help! It really made a difference, and I plan to learn more about power supplies. I might also consider using fan splitters next.

But I need an X570, so I don’t have to swap the board if I want a Ryzen 4000 series.

I've never felt bad about investing in a motherboard with superior specs, yet I often wish I had chosen something more affordable a couple of years back. If your finances allow, most x570 models remain strong options, though the mid-range selections usually provide the best value for money. You probably won't need an x570 if you're planning a 3600, but if you do consider a 4950x later, you might not have to replace the board entirely.
