We reduced our office space because everyone works remotely. We’re creating “hot desks” for those who want to visit. How do I sync user profiles across two or three computers so each person has a unique desktop experience? This isn’t something I’ve tried before—any ideas? ActiveDirectory might help.

Active Directory domain, roaming profiles within group policies. Or profile redirection too in group policies... just one of them, not both. In short.

I previously utilized roaming profiles and achieved positive outcomes. Consider evaluating such configurations.

Varies with the surroundings... Roaming Profiles shine with terminal servers, but they must be fetched from a file server at login and saved upon logout. This process may require considerable time based on profile size. Redirection is helpful since it avoids repeated copying, though it limits access when working outside the LAN. You can also assign specific OU profiles to certain policies, such as exempting mobile users (like laptops).

That's accurate. I got it right. All my efforts were focused on local LAN.

Starting with Windows 7, it connects automatically to the server once you're logged in. You don't have to wait long before logging out.
