Start router and disable wifi connectivity from the network.
Hi everyone! I'm trying to figure out why my Netgear R6300 router keeps randomly disconnecting Wi-Fi devices. It seems like the connection strength is high but it shows "connected, no internet." I've tried resetting it and changing bands, but it still happens unpredictably. It doesn't affect Ethernet connections. The firmware is current. Got any suggestions?
These problems are why I avoid Wi-Fi. If nothing has changed and it's suddenly happening, it probably means the device is broken. You might try resetting it to factory settings first by noting your settings. If that doesn’t work, replacement seems like the only choice. These gadgets aren't really fixed by users except through software tweaks, and unless you've adjusted anything, there’s little else to fix. Switching channels or adjusting between 2.4GHz and 5GHz can help if you still face disconnections, but interference from nearby devices is likely the main issue. Hardware or firmware problems are usually the cause, and fixing it would be difficult.
You might also attempt to disconnect your wired clients temporarily and/or swap out the Ethernet cable connected to your modem. Problems with network clients can spread as accusations toward the network gear, even though it's actually a "rouge" client. Events like broadcast storms triggered by a client can greatly slow down the network, leading you to believe you need to replace your switch or router.
