Hi everyone. I was adjusting my computer's RAM and it seemed to clash with my system, causing freezes and odd visual problems. After switching back, I noticed some icons in the Start menu now appear as a white box with a cross when searched. If I browse apps without searching, they look normal, but when searched, they look random. I tried running SFC and DISM commands, but they didn’t fix anything.

He found the secret function I missed; it’s likely you can right-click the .exe and adjust the icon via properties.

Based on your words, the Windows Search Index was damaged. I recommend removing it and rebuilding it from scratch. This will also refresh the thumbnail indexing. Here’s a guide from MajorGeeks: How to Delete and Rebuild the Windows 10 & 11 Search Index.
