Both options end near the latest upgrade paths, offering RAM and socket choices. Intel typically provides two socket generations with higher-end models, whereas AMD extends support much further. If AMD introduces a compatible AM5 model soon, it would be significantly more upgrade-friendly. Otherwise, Intel remains the stronger choice currently.

I've never experienced cutting-edge tech before, so I stick with what's reliable and currently available—our mobile and RAM setup.

I’d prefer a more affordable choice from Intel over AMD right now. A 10-series i7 or Zen 2 processor would easily outperform anything you currently own. Look for discounted models (like the 10900k for under $400) and assemble a completely updated system at a fraction of the cost. It’s better to get a reliable, bug-free setup rather than chasing cutting-edge specs. I’d favor an Intel 10th gen build, even if it’s not the fastest available, since the prices are so attractive. A 10900K for $380 or an 10700K for $275 is unrealistic.
