Hi everyone, I recently purchased a few XT8s to connect via my Starlink setup, using a square second edition dish with an added proprietary Ethernet port. I’ve gone through some instructions from the Asus website guide: https://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1047774/. Despite following the steps for static routes and IP configurations, I still can’t get internet traffic to pass through the Starlink to the Asus mesh network—even when the SSID is set up or in bypass mode. I’ve matched the static route IPs with the mesh IPs and those mentioned on the page, but it’s not working as expected. It seems this feature is only needed if you specifically want to enable bypass mode, not that it’s essential. I just need the mesh to function properly and don’t mind the Starlink SSID broadcasting. The Asus support line didn’t give much clarity. Is there something I’m missing? Thanks, TIA

I don’t know much about these devices, but I came across that Reddit discussion. Someone named New-Spinach9555 shared their experience with Starlink and XT8s. They found that connecting to the internet via Starlink required using a different port—specifically, the 1 gigabit LAN instead of the 2.5 gigabit WAN port. They also adjusted the DNS settings manually for better performance.

I checked my Reddit history and didn’t see that post, but I tried matching similar configurations and it worked smoothly. The main challenge was confirming the router’s internet link using the LED guide in the app—it showed a connection. A representative from Asus later clarified that the 2.5G WAN port isn’t supported on the Starlink Gen2 system right now, though a fix is planned for the next firmware release. It looks like they should have more details, particularly if you’re getting the Ethernet dongle. Appreciate the guidance @Thomas4!
