It seems some ships resemble Klingon raptors, though I'm not sure if it's just perception.

Have you missed the original trilogy? Regardless, if you have images of the fighters, I can identify them for you.

X-Wings are the assumed type you're referring to. Tie-fighters are the H-shaped vessels, while Tie-Interceptors are the X-shaped versions of them. Wings are the triangular red ships, and Y-wings are the grey and yellow Y-shaped craft. Star Wars information for kids is included right there, lol.

Besides, there are Star Destroyers, Mon Calamari star cruisers, and Nebulon-B frigates visible in low orbit as background scenery. Did you have a specific one in mind? All of these are well-known Star Wars concepts, without exception.

Snow speeders are tough to describe in plain language. They resemble A-wings, but they're grey, carry a gun at the back, and have a thin wire around their legs. We're aiming for basic understanding here.

It seems it was only you who did this. Look at the original SW episodes 4,5,6. You might be able to borrow the unedited versions (before the 1997 re-release) on Netflix.
