I’m having trouble starting Star Wars Battlefront. The game freezes and shows a black screen, and I can only exit using Task Manager. I’m unsure what’s causing the issue.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling? Does your hardware and OS meet minimum spec? Are you sure your anti virus is off? And finally, it's a beta. Unfortunately that means that it hasn't been tested on all set ups yet as there are literally thousands of configurations and variables to take into account; that's why beta's are a thing, they're used for testing the waters and getting technical problems addressed before the official release of a game. It might be possible that the game will work fine when it fully launches but you may unfortunately be unable to participate in the beta. If that last part is the case, then I would contact Origin tech support and tell them the problem and your machine's specs; that information will most likely be forwarded to Dice and the issue will be brought to their QA team and it could serve to actually make sure that the problem is addressed before the launch of the game.
