Opt for the B550 if extra PCIe 4.0 lanes aren't essential. The B550 Tomahawk performs well. Consider a B550 Aorus Pro or Strix B550-F at comparable cost, unless you require the internal Type-C port.

I believe the Tomahawk matches the price of the Asus Tuf gaming x570 and includes a 2.5GB LAN. I’m concerned about Gen 4 technology, as it’s hard to predict what will emerge next. Unless you’re ready to repurchase, unless a new feature becomes essential, I’d prefer the x570. Right now it seems almost out of scope, but in three, six, or twelve months? I’m not sure. Also, just to note, this isn’t a temporary marketing trick—PCIe lanes are here to stay, so there’s real potential for a company to deliver Gen 4 capabilities that could change the game.

Unless you require the fourth lane from the chipset, the b550 is a solid choice. For the x570, the x570-p. Tomahawk is recommended. The X570 tuf works well with b550. For the b550, Tomahawk is ideal. Mortar supports Aorus pro. Strix f. Steel legend is a solid option. B450 should suffice and can power an 8-core processor (model-dependent). If funds permit, the b550 offers superior performance.

It still provides sufficient 4.0 lanes for a graphics card and an NVMe drive, so you're not completely missing out on PCIe 4.0.

I suggest the B550 Mobo. For a 3700X, I’d go with the B550 A-Pro. My friend uses it and it performs excellently, includes a Type-C port, and offers solid features.
