Idle periods are completely acceptable, regardless of whether idle temperatures are high or low. Load temperatures matter, and they are beneficial.

The TDP measurements between the FX series and Ryzen will likely differ significantly from previous standards. It seems the way they’ve been determining TDP has changed considerably, and many boards probably underreported temperatures for these components initially.
