It's shocking that HP is sending out new laptops without an SSD boot drive. That's really disappointing. You should consider getting the upgrade. Even if it doesn't improve your frame rate, it will definitely enhance performance for all other tasks.

Start with the upgrade first. Random access speeds drop quickly on spinning drives, while paging to virtual memory becomes less impactful on an SSD. Your laptop will perform noticeably better overall. Doing both is best, but I believe 8 gigabytes paired with an SSD will feel faster than 16 gigabytes and a traditional hard drive.

It’s clear the problem is the drive attempting to access the swap file as if it matters, and it’s failing badly. Use a solid SSD instead.
