I’m going to modify what I said before. Keep the old Windows version until it’s been running smoothly on the SSD for a week or longer. Just in case something unexpected happens. Another idea, bring a USB with a working Linux demo ready so you can switch if needed.

Absolutely understandable. Even without the original drive, you could simply insert the CD and reinstall. I also have Linux prepared on a USB from an earlier setup.
