SR-IOV on Asus WRX80E-SAGE SE II paired with VMware setup
I own an Asus Pro WS WRX80E-SAGE SE WIFI II board paired with an AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5975WX processor. I've set up VMware Esxi 8.0U2 and vCenter, and managed to route an NVIDIA RTX 4090 into a virtual machine without problems. For our requirements, having accelerated graphics across several VMs is essential. The next step was to leverage NVIDIA vGPU profiles from one GPU and route them to multiple virtual machines. To achieve this, I acquired the RTX 5000ada. After installing the host and NVIDIA management drivers, I applied the vGPU profile to a VM. When attempting to boot the VM, I encountered an error stating "Could not initialise plugin 'libnvidia-vgx.so' – suspect an SR-IOV issue." Despite enabling SR-IOV Support and IOMMU on the motherboard, I still face difficulties with the RTX 5000ada in SR-IOV mode within VMware Esxi 8.0U2. Anyone have experience resolving this issue with VMware Esxi 8 + Center? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Same motherboard, CPU, and ESXi 8+ vCentre are used; only the GPU model varies (RTX A5000). Display mode is off. BAR1 Memory setup is configured. Total usage is 32,768 MB, with 1 MB free. All required BIOS settings are active. This isn’t the only server with a vGPU—possibly the SR-IOV on the Asus Pro WS WRX80E-SAGE SE WIFI II board is the issue. Have you found a solution?
