You just tested the demo—it keeps disconnecting and the screen flickers a lot. It’s definitely worth trying. I used TeamViewer before, but it didn’t impress me much. It performed poorly... So, does anyone know if getting anywhere access with the 3.75€ Splashtop works, or am I stuck paying the monthly fee there too?
The Splashtop version available for 16.99 feels a bit underwhelming. It sends all your data to a US-West server, which increases latency significantly. They don’t support direct connections unless you use a VPN or Hamachi to mimic a home network setup. While the product is decent, I’d prefer more basic options—this experience has made me question their direction.
Use the Microsoft RDP client directly. It won’t let you stream video, but you’ll need to forward port 3389 through your router and direct it to the device you wish to access. For several devices, consider TeamViewer or similar tools—don’t set up a dedicated RDP gateway. You might find TeamViewer simpler.
