SpeedFan won't start up when you turn it on
I recently bought SpeedFan to quiet down my computer case fans. Honestly speaking, there is no automatic way to start it right after turning on your PC. I tried using the usual trick: creating a shortcut and putting it in the StartUp folder. That works perfectly for regular apps like Chrome or Word. But SpeedFan won't launch by itself unless I click its button first. Why does this happen? The StartUp folder isn't supposed to force things, yet SpeedFan still needs me to start manually. I even tried making a scheduled task so it starts at boot up, but Windows keeps saying "task not yet run," which means it never actually gets started automatically either.
Hi, I don't use SpeedFan (SF), but I think I helped someone fix this issue before. Turns out, SF needs to run as admin, and you can't easily load apps at startup while in admin mode (or else you'd get 20 popups from all the apps wanting permission to run at start up). A scheduled task would be my suggestion, but I guess you already tried that one. My last post on this: https://forums. My guess is something's wrong with the task you made. Maybe an incorrect setting. Those tasks are complicated to set up and have a lot of settings, so everything has to be perfect. I'd consider deleting that task and starting all over again...

Thanks for the help! I need one thing though before I try this. I cannot use the right-click menu to make a shortcut because I already removed that part of my registry back then. It used to cause annoying mistakes when clicking things by accident. Honestly, I never needed it until now. Can you tell me where the Shortcut Wizard sits on Windows 10 so I can open it manually?
It seems like you need to write a quick VBS script to make it work. You can find step-by-step instructions here. When you start the first script, you'll have to type in the exact path and name of the shortcut (which is often a .LNK file). The second question asks for the full path and filename where you want to run that task.
