Speed on the Galaxy A8 varies with network conditions and device settings.
I recently purchased a new RT-AC1200G+ router from ASUS, which claims combined speeds of 2.4GHz and 5GHz at 1200Mbps. However, the Galaxy A8 2018 can only use one frequency at once, so it should be restricted to 5GHz, which typically delivers around 870Mbps on this device. After some testing, I’m consistently getting up to 230Mbps locally. Could there be a limitation on my phone? The app tested shows full AC support but no mention of Wi-Fi maximum speeds. It seems the issue might lie elsewhere.
The distinction is that it states "UP TO 867 Mbps," which clarifies the maximum speed, not just the number itself.
A quick search shows the A8 2018 remains a SISO model, suggesting it might only reach about 440Mbit speeds. Given typical WiFi performance, real speeds are usually around half of that, which aligns with expectations.
