Hello! The Geekbench results for the Ryzen 7 8700G and 8600G show they run best on DDR5-6400, though both APUs are limited to DDR5-5200. Whether using faster RAM offers extra gains depends on your specific use case. For now, there aren’t official Ryzen platform tests, but you can find comprehensive benchmarks for both CPUs and memory from trusted sites.

According to official sources, APUs are compatible with DDR5 5600, and AMD has indicated that DDR5 6000 is optimal for Ryzen 8000G processors. The best match may vary depending on the specific APU, and it might become clearer once the new models arrive in about a week.

Don't rely solely on the AMD spec sheet. I'm aiming for a budget-friendly data-science setup with 96GB RAM, so I'll look for the fastest options that fit a good price. Thanks!

They seem to be focusing on APUs with fewer resources compared to the regular Ryzen 7000 series chips. The 7700(X) offers similar pricing, but unless you require the high performance of the 8700G, it probably isn't the best choice.

primarily due to the APU's VRAM reaching up to 32GB, it still allows running larger language models than most consumer GPUs available for about a third of their price (APU plus RAM versus RTX 7900 XTX and significantly less than RTX 4090). It's also the first desktop chip featuring Ryzen AI integration. however, my budget caps at 1500€ including VAT. though it seems competitive, I'm uncertain if it's the optimal pick.
