Speed of 25 Gbps fiber connection
Speed of 25 Gbps fiber connection
Hi, I placed an order for two Switch Enterprise XG 24 units with 24 x 10G and two 25G up-link connections. I need guidance on linking the 25G up-links. I’m familiar with the cable—Huber+Suhner LC to LC dual-mode OM4 fiber (2.1mm, violet, 30m) supports 25G—but the SFP+ module seems to be the issue. I found a 1000USD option labeled UF-MM-10G that claims 10000Mbit/s and supports SFP+ at 850nm. Should that work for 25G?
Check fs.com for transceivers or DAC cables. 25gbps SFP28 transceivers: https://www.fs.com/c/25g-sfp28-transceivers-3215 25gbps DAC cables: https://www.fs.com/c/25g-sfp28-to-sfp28-dac-2869 The specifications for your switch don't specify compatible transceiver, but likely a 25GBASE-SR SFP28 at 850nm (up to 100m) or -ESR (up to 300m) would fit. If you have time, search online for recommendations on universal switches. For shorter distances, spending $30-$40 on a 3-meter DAC cable could be more economical. The first option listed (31$) should work well.
