Speakers activate automatically upon powering up, regardless of being connected to a PC.
Hi. I turned on my PC today and, besides the Raspberry Pi not being reachable on my network (which a reboot resolved), my speakers kept producing loud static sounds whenever they were active. I was thinking about the Raspberry Pi just for reference. Looking at images online, it seems I might have either a Logitech Z625 or Z623. I’m not sure which exact model it is—I can’t locate it. They both look similar. The speakers are connected to the wall outlet and have a power button. As long as they’re plugged into any outlet and the power button is on, they keep making noise. I’ve tried switching off the PC’s power switch, unplugging the speakers from the PC/Motherboard, re-seating the cables, and even tested headphones plugged into my front audio jack, which worked perfectly. I’m confused about why everything started acting up suddenly after it was fine just a couple of days ago. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
It seems the audio equipment is experiencing problems. A persistent static sound when powered on and at maximum volume, even without connection, is typical. You might try connecting the 3.5mm jack to ground to suppress clicking noises. If the issue persists while connected to a device, check the volume level—especially if it has a physical dial—or inspect the speakers for wear or damage.
The models experiencing problems are relatively recent, likely from the past few years.
It's quite an old setup, probably over six years. It's interesting I tweaked the volume knob just to test the lowest setting—it now functions properly. Even after resetting it back to 25%, everything works fine. Maybe the dial was malfunctioning, but at least we have working speakers now.
It seems you're a bit puzzled, but overall it wasn't too bad. I assumed I'd done everything possible before posting, but I hadn't considered adjusting the volume since it was already low. Appreciate the advice—keep using them until you can get new ones. You're really satisfied with the sound now.
I experienced a comparable problem and discovered it stemmed from a Windows driver update.
It's typical to have static when the speakers aren't connected to the computer.
