So I decided to clean the heatsink and the fan. I replaced the thermal paste before turning off my BIOS, unplugging the AC power cord. I put everything back together, connected the AC plug to reconnect the battery, but nothing happened when I tried to remove the back cover to check if something was wrong or restart. It worked fine after that. Shut down, I plugged in the AC adapter and saw two sparks under the heatsink near the CPU area. I removed the heatsink and there wasn't anything abnormal there. I put the heatsink back on, connected the AC adapter, and now sparks are coming from a marked zone with red lights. These two gray ones don't light up when I disconnected the power supply. Something is wrong since the very beginning; when I plugged in the AC adapter, it should have been charging. Any advice? Maybe repasting the heatsink ten times helps.

That red spot is where the circuit board gets hot, and if you see sparks coming from there, it means your computer parts are getting damaged and need to be replaced.

Just when I plug the charger into the AC outlet, a spark starts right where it touches. But my laptop works fine while using the battery.

I tried a different Lenovo charger with 90 watts instead of the 135-watt original one. The voltage was just the same. When I turned off the laptop and plugged it into the new adapter, there were no sparks. Then when I put the laptop back on and plugged in the 90W charger again after a minute, still no sparks at all.

Hey, does it work? Just check the spot where you put the thermal paste because that's super important. If you have that stuff there and everything looks good, give it a go and clean up the board to see if it still works. But since you said it already works fine, no worries at all!

It's a bad extension cable, and both chargers are working fine now. That part of the unit didn't have any thermal pad when it came out, just a heatsink that was more than two millimeters thick, so I left it exactly as new from the factory. The problem was 100% due to the extension cable; I tested with both the original charger and an extra 130W one too.
