Your C drive is full and you're trying to transfer an app from the B drive you created. You need to move the app without deleting it entirely. Windows is restricting you from extending the C drive, so you'll have to handle the files manually. Consider using a third-party tool or script to copy the app to the B drive folder safely.

Have you previously executed Disk Cleanup on C:\? Utilizing the new SSD for bulk storage (such as downloads) would simplify the process.

You're just starting out with drive management. It sounds like your files are being copied to both drives during the download, which might be causing confusion. To install everything on the B drive right away, you'll need to adjust the installation settings after the download completes. Check the software's instructions for steps to select the correct partition or format when installing.

I'm trying to save it to a particular spot instead of just the main download area on the C drive. Do you think I'm being silly?

Let me explain further. Determine whether you’re downloading directly from the browser or using an app, and which one. You’ll likely need to adjust the default download settings, especially if you use game launchers—otherwise, changes are limited to basic options like IE or Edge. Modifying these manually can be tricky. Transferring an existing app to another drive often causes problems; it’s usually better to uninstall and reinstall it on the new drive. Handling games separately is a different challenge. For instance, moving Steam games via right-click and changing the default folder works, but copying them manually might succeed only if you know the specifics. Use your favorite search engine to look for successful methods from others.

Im downloading it through Opera. Let me post screenshots to display my frustrations. If I right click on either Disk (1 or 0) the Extend Volume button is grey, and the only method I am aware of to get this working is to back up your main drive and delete it and start over and put it back on, then extend it to combine both physical drives. The reason I don't want to do that is this is a brand new pc and I don't want to screw it up. I might be able to get it working by using separate drives of C and B and just moving things around from drive to drive to make things work. Thanks Microsoft! i wish linux was any good imo....

Windows boot volumes typically can't span several physical disks. With unallocated space on Disk 1, you could attach it to your C partition. You might set up a new folder on the B: drive and move your Downloads folder there. This helps keep download files separate from your C drive.
