When downloading a game on Steam, the disk space allocation can take a long time, even for small titles. I don’t remember how long it usually takes, but there might be a way to speed things up. I’ve already cleared the download cache.

For an SSD in your setup, it's best to upload the files there first and then move them to the HDD.
