I got my lenovo yoga 7i back from repair for a sleep/standby issue and also found some weird sound distortion on the headphone jack. Now that it's been reset and cleared, restoring my backups has made things worse. Sometimes when I use Audacity or a media player, there is an audio delay. It stays silent for half a second, then plays normally but skips another half second. This happens all the time. I have called Lenovo tech support about six times already, tried changing driver settings in Device Manager, and even asked online chat staff to help them. But they still want me to send it back for repair. They said they can add 90 days to my warranty if I go through again. Do you think there is a way to fix this? I have already tried uninstalling the audio driver in Device Manager.

Happy New Year! It looks like you might have a lot of problems, especially since you mentioned it. Please put your laptop's serial number on Lenovo's website so they can look at it for you. You will see a special page just for your laptop. Check if there are any BIOS updates waiting to happen. You can use the program called CPU-Z to find out what version of the BIOS is currently listed under the "Mainboard" section. After that, try uninstalling your audio drivers and then reinstalling them by right-clicking on the installer and choosing "Run as Administrator." You should also take a backup of any important stuff you have because it's very likely you could have one more issue: either 1) your internal audio ribbon cable might be loose if the audio module or board is actually a daughterboard. If that isn't the case, then 2) your operating system is corrupt and that was the main reason for the problem.

The main part of my computer got messed up by a repair shop. I tried fixing things on my own, like updating drivers and BIOS settings, but nothing worked. Now I need to send it back for more work. My first step was going to the Lenovo website to check for new driver files. They offered an update for the BIOS. But the audio problem is still happening here. When the sound works while the computer is on, everything sounds fine. But if the screen goes down and the computer sits idle for a bit before turning back on, the audio starts lagging right away when it kicks in. I tried taking out some software earlier today but two drivers are left behind: Fortemedia and Elevoc. I only installed the Fortemedia one so far and guess it already asked you to give admin rights. I can try installing the Elevoc driver now too. My plan is to uninstall the speakers, headphones, and mic, keep the audio input software but remove the Bluetooth stuff and the Intel USB devices. Under "Audio Inputs," check for things like [Sound Video and Game Controller] or any realtek sound items. I haven't found anything that helps yet since this happened during a repair, so it must have been some other standby setting issue before. Thanks for being patient with me while I work on getting this fixed!

I got the computer mainboard changed a second time already. Had some trouble turning on Windows after that. If anyone has any ideas to help me out with this. It's not normal for audio to play for half a second and then stop, right? If I wait a minute without playing any sound, it starts again when I click something.

It looks like I had my computer settings set to save battery power and turn off automatically when not in use. A change to the driver that handles audio fixes things by waking the system up so it can pick up sound again.
