Sound when USB is disconnected – no reconnect, issue resolved before, now happening again
Hi everyone, I’m sharing this because I’ve been stuck in a loop and lost ideas. In CS2 (mostly), I keep hearing the Windows USB disconnect noise, but once it stops, nothing changes. It doesn’t happen in flight sims, not on the desktop, and never in other titles. The only times it occurs are during CS2 play. I’ve fixed it before and it stayed resolved for a while, but now it’s reappearing after updates. I’m unsure what triggered this change. My machine is an Asus ROG Strix Z490-E with i7-10700K, RTX 3090 Gaming OC, 64GB Corsair Vengeance 3600MHz, NVMe and SATA SSDs, custom cooling. USB ports are all connected via hub or motherboard slots—nothing seems off. I’ve tried everything: power settings, USB hubs, different cables, even removed peripherals. The issue appears only in CS2, and I’m not sure what caused it to return. I’ve checked Event Viewer too; no clear removal or reconnect logs match the sound. It feels like a brief reset at the HID or USB controller level, not a power-saving failure or faulty device. The problem seems tied to low-latency demands of CS2, possibly CPU scheduling or input handling. I’m wondering if others have seen this exact pattern? Any tips on fixing it—like tweaking CPU settings, adjusting input polling, or testing with a different USB card? I’m trying to avoid wasting money but also have limited options. Thanks!
Alternatively, I can try one option and observe the outcome to lessen the chip's burden on another device.
