Sound emits a crackling noise when under stress.
Just bought a new PC recently and it sounds weird when playing Cyberpunk 2077. Sometimes it crackles, and other times it crashes if COD Cold War and League of Legends are running at the same time. My specs are MSI MAG B650 with Tomahawk Ryzen 7 7700X, 2x16GB Kingston Fury Renegade, 6400 MT/s at 4800 MHz. I haven’t managed to flash the BIOS yet. I have some ideas but first I’m hoping for some advice.
The audio starts with a crackle and then suddenly stops. It’s unclear whether this refers to a system crash or just the sound behavior.
The noise from games and Discord comes from crackling sounds, followed by the PC powering on and restarting. The power cycle problem could relate to the GPU's 8 pins being connected to the same cable; I’ll switch that. Regarding the crackling issue, I didn’t get any results.
I connected the GPU to different cables (they were on separate ones). I plan to play games and monitor hardware details, checking temperatures and other aspects regularly. I’ll let you know if I notice anything unusual.
So far everything appears stable, no crashes except occasional reboots under the same load. The crackle noise has been resolved, but it seems to be a time-limited issue. It worked well for about 30 minutes before failing again. Temperatures are normal—65°C on the GPU and 75°C on the CPU. Everything functioned properly until the last crash. Could the power supply unit overheat be the cause?
I ran some tests and everything worked smoothly under light load. The game runs without any crashes or issues. In more demanding scenarios like Cyberpunk and Cold War, performance is solid with no lag—just occasional crashes after a while. I recorded one crash in HardwareInfo if you want to review the data. No unusual behavior observed overall. I’ll attach the Cyberpunk test logs for your reference.
