Sound effects fade during gameplay and performance decreases when using a graphics card.
I rarely share updates on forums and I’m trying to figure this out, but I’m stuck. After installing the newest GeForce Driver (version 511.23) for my GTX 1660 Ti, I’ve noticed audio and performance problems with the games I play. When using titles like Genshin Impact or Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, the sound suddenly cuts off and replays. In contrast, games such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V previously ran smoothly without issues. My usual games like Persona 4 Golden or Persona 5 Strikers are now running at a significantly lower frame rate. The audio glitches don’t interfere with chatting on Discord or playing music through Spotify, but they disrupt gameplay. I’ve attempted reinstalling drivers, removing and reinstalling games, updating drivers, and checking hardware settings, yet nothing resolves the problem. I’m running Windows 11 and my system settings are stored in my profile. I’ve also checked GPU and CPU temperatures, finding no unusual heat issues. This situation is frustrating, and I’m unsure what else to try. I appreciate any advice you can offer and hope to get back on track soon. Thank you for your time.
Update your GPU driver. You may need to check for a version compatible with W11, as it remains quite unstable. We're here to assist with these issues—please don't hesitate to share your system details. You're welcome to post your information for easier support. Also, I just pasted this content. Your CPU is an Intel Core i7 10700K with a MSI MPG Z490 motherboard, 32 GB RAM (8x4), and the rest of the components listed. The case is a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 TI Windforce OC, and the cooler is MasterBox TD500 with Samsung 970 Evo M.2-2280 NVME SSD. The PSU is Corsair RMx 850W, certified 80+ Gold. The cooler is MasterLIQUID ML240L RGB V2.
I’m sorry for not sharing my full setup in the post. Honestly, many of these issues started after I switched to Windows 11, so downgrading to Windows 10 might be a good idea. Reinstalling everything would be a hassle, but it could solve the problems if it helps.
Update quickly: after executing DDU and reinstalling the drivers, everything seems to be working again. The games are running smoothly and there are no audio problems anymore. If anything shifts, I’ll let you know right away. Thanks for your support! You all are great!
