Absolutely, the XG offers those features but lacks the UTM functionality. However, it shares similar capabilities with other tools, and the XG interface looks much more appealing.

They're both correct about the same point—one source claims no IP restrictions while another mentions them.

I understand you're exploring some advanced network configuration. This might assist someone browsing online who's facing similar challenges. I've used Sophos UTM both in free mode and on dedicated hardware for the past four years. The XG feature is new to me. My intention was to set it up on a 6th generation Intel NUC via USB dongle as a secondary network adapter. After spending most of the weekend, I finally completed the installation using Rufus DD with the write option enabled and disabling UEFI boot entirely—keeping only the legacy boot. But once powered on, the XG couldn't detect either of the NIC drivers (Realtek and USB chip from AXIS). After updating pfSense, both were recognized immediately. I’m assuming this outcome depends on my hardware setup. If my NICs are Intel or Broadcom-based, the result might differ. I also noticed the XG seemed sluggish, while pfSense performed well even on a budget J3455 NUC.
