I began editing again with Sony Vegas and attempted to preview a clip I added. The program became very slow, making it impossible to use. Soon after, it froze completely and stopped working altogether. This issue keeps happening whenever I open Vegas. My hardware includes an Intel Core I5 processor, a 4th-gen Haswell GPU (Gtx 960), 8 GB RAM, and I run Windows 7.

I've switched it off; it didn't work, but appreciate your assistance.

Hello, this experience really helped me with my i7 3770k and GTX970. Perhaps you might want to give Adobe Premiere a free trial and find out if it suits your needs. I’ve heard it performs much better and runs more smoothly.

Have you considered exploring additional concepts? Or would you like to test Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas 11/12?

Up to now, 12 has performed quite well (G3258 and 7950). Of course, there are some crashes, but nothing comparable to what you're experiencing. To be honest, even with my G3258 running at 4.6GHz, it handled the smaller model pretty smoothly.
