sony vaio
Hi, I hope someone can assist me. I have an old Sony Vaio VGN-NW26M laptop that’s functioning properly, but recently the display won’t stay on. When I press the power button next to it, the screen turns off for about two seconds before turning back on. There’s a display off button, but pressing it seems to reset the screen. Is there a way to bypass that button so the screen stays on? Thanks in advance.
Is there a physical button that rises to cover the display when the lid is shut, causing the screen to turn off? If this is the case, you may need to take off the top keyboard cover to investigate. It might not be the main problem, though—it could occur in certain situations, such as when the BIOS loads but then the screen shuts down immediately after Windows starts. You’d want more specific timing details about when this happens.
no mate it was working fine then just went off so now if i turn laptop on got power hard drive is working but no display but if i press the display off /on button the screen comes on for about 10 seconds then goes off then if i press the button again the same happens?
The button merely controls the backlight's power state. It does not affect the display's operation. If the backlight shuts down on its own, there may be an issue with the backlight or its driver. Consult a service center for diagnosis. Repair costs are likely to be higher than the problem's value.
