Hey guys, I'm having trouble with my computer. Let me tell you what happened before. My pc was working great until I took a 2 week vacation. When I came back and started playing cs2, it started lagging sometimes. It feels like the problem happens mostly when I move my mouse around certain spots (though I don't know exactly where that is).

Here are my PC specs:
- 3060 RTX OC with 12GB of RAM
- i5 13600k processor
- 32GB of ram running at 5600Mhz
- SSD drive

Is there a way to find out if the hardware is broken or if my internet connection is messing things up? Is there any way to test my components for damage besides just looking at them visually? Is there any way to check my internet speed without using a speed test tool?

Things I already tried:
- Reinstalled Windows.
- Changed the CPU paste and cleaned everything around the PC.

Thanks!

Check if it happens when you play games without internet. Restart your router and update its software. Make sure all drivers are current for your system: GPU, ethernet, chipset, Intel ME driver, BIOS, and RAM. Keep RAM at the advertised speed. Run memtest to check memory, run an SSD test with the manufacturer's tool, and eventually update firmware if there is one available. Finally, update your BIOS as well.

You should first run some test programs like OCCT to make sure everything runs smoothly without breaking anything. Next, try benchmarking software such as CineBench for the CPU or Heaven Benchmark, Furmark, etc., for the graphics card. You can also do a full system check using Passmark Performance or Geekbench to compare your new setup with others. It's smart to record these results so you know if things have changed or broken down over time. Also, check your BIOS settings to make sure they are back to safe defaults and that any cool features aren't lost if the power was out for a while or the battery died.

You are welcome! I did a hard reset on my router and updated it to the latest firmware. I also updated the BIOS to the current version, but something weird happened: I remember updating the BIOS back in 2024, yet the system still shows a 2022 version. Let's see how this is working now; I'll come back with another update later. Thanks so much! I think you are correct. After checking again, it is definitely a 2022 version, even though I know for sure that I updated it in 2024. Also, all the BIOS settings including memory speed were reset to 3200, and I tried changing the RAM frequency, but here is my question about the RAM if you don't mind... I had three options: - G2 5600Mhz (1.33x100.00) - G2 5600Mhz (1.00x100.00) - G4 5600Mhz (1.00x100.00) Which one is the best? From what I read, it says that G2 with 1.00x100.00 is the best choice because the 1.33 version can interfere with other OCs. Oh, and are there any other changes I should make in the BIOS for better performance? Thanks again!

I just had a game of CS2 coming up, and it's still going on. I want to see if testing the internet will let me get 100% proof that my connection isn't broken.

I have found something similar happening, so I won't start a new thread and will ask for advice here. In my case, this doesn't happen while playing games, but it happens when I switch screens using Alt+Tab, especially if I go into Discord. Sometimes, there is a small glitch that appears briefly when switching from a game to something else, which is normal. But if I switch into Discord, the lag can stay for several seconds. Everything else seems okay except for this. Could it be because of the latest update?

ok, now I am 100% sure it's not the internet, because today even got my mouse lagging on desktop. EDIT: ok, now I'm lagging like crazy even on desktop, i can't even click on things on desktop because of how bad it is... But i'm pulling performance tab and everything looks stable, nothing is going crazy... I run benchmarks everything ok, i used this OCCT for all my components and coldn't find any errors what the hell could it be at this point?

Ok, I figured out what went wrong. Before this happened, I could barely click because of all that lag. But then I realized I could actually move my cursor perfectly with my keyboard even though the mouse was really slow and glitchy. So the problem wasn't the computer or the cable. It was the mouse itself. This wireless mouse was right next to the PC's antenna, which might have messed up its signals or killed it early on. Even after I switched it to a USB stick further away from the antenna, it still acted weird and stayed laggy all along. Honestly, I didn't think this would happen at all! It just kept getting worse without stopping for days.
