Wi-Fi doesn't stay up very well, especially when you add a repeater. But wired connections are usually better. It could just be that your internet provider is having trouble. Does the issue come out more in the evenings or when it's quiet in the morning?

Right now, Wi-Fi feels better for streaming than Ethernet, and I haven't had any trouble with games. It's currently 12:30 PM Eastern, which means traffic isn't really high. But yesterday at night we had the same problem, so right now it still seems to be happening. I can try to get more data by watching things happen over the holiday weekend, but for now, that is not true.

Did I need more checks? I put my laptop in the room again. Now it had Wi-Fi and watched part of the video. Everything worked fine with no problems. But when I cut off the Wi-Fi on the computer, plugged in an ethernet cable, things started to lag a bit. Then I noticed the laptop was behind on a Windows update. When I tried those two tests again, it didn't feel like there were any more issues.

It's late night, but I'm still having trouble too. I also tried moving the port where the cable is plugged into the router, and nothing changed. I ran some different speed tests (tracerouts), and there seems to be a lot of packet loss. YouTube works fine from my laptop on Wi-Fi with zero problems. Also, multiplayer games worked great when I downloaded a 40gb game on my desktop; the download was actually faster than ever before.

I called Verizon and told them what happened so far. The tech person was super smart and tried a fix right away. She explained to me that Verizon's newest software update caused problems with IPv6 stuff. So, she turned off that part, and now I'm having no more trouble!

You would think people are getting their problems fixed by switching off ipv6 support. The ISP team seems very silly lately. IPv6 isn't exactly brand new; it's been around for twenty years. It still isn't super useful, but they call it "new and improved" and claim it has more addresses than ipv4 so it must be better.
