Steam is likely to remove your account, probably more than Origin or Uplay. I wouldn’t try it unless you own another version of the game.

I handled black ops 3 successfully. I turned off steam, connected via flyvpn from Australia, then opened it and everything functioned properly. After my preload loaded, I removed flyvpn after launching the game once. I repeated the process for borderlands TPS, which also worked fine.
