I've been trying to run x86 emulation on my phone using Windows 98, playing games such as Age of Empires II and Half-Life. It seems I'm having trouble getting Windows XP to start properly, so I'm curious if anyone has managed to achieve similar performance with it.
Without a chip or OS designed for it, emulating x86 on ARM becomes extremely expensive. Earlier systems from the DOS days and beyond are manageable due to minimal resource needs and straightforward platform demands. WinXP adds significant complexity, along with a massive increase in resource demands. For example, playing games in WinXP inside a virtual machine on an x86 device is practically impossible.
