Hey there. I'm seeing this problem too. Everything worked fine when I first set up the 7800X3D, but lately my gameplay on monitor 1 and livestreams on monitor 2 have become very unstable. Even without playing games, the FPS drops significantly and falls below 30. I think it might be related to a BIOS update—since the X3D voltage issue has been ongoing and ASUS released several BIOS versions, I updated to try and prevent overheating. But now I'm worried my CPU might be damaged, as I remember a strange odor coming from it under stress. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but could someone else have experienced the same thing?
Check the CPU and see if there are any signs of damage. Does it pass the stability tests? I’d consider replacing it just in case while you can.
I understand you're looking for guidance on stability testing. The best method depends on your specific requirements, but common options include accelerated aging tests, environmental stress testing, and fatigue analysis. Which parameters are you focusing on?
I'm uncertain about this situation. I'm trying to share details in different places but it seems few people are aware. Steve at Gamers Nexus talked about the chip being "degraded" and performance issues, which is concerning. I think I should file a support ticket with AMD. My machine was running well for about a week or two before the update was released.
